Program Description

Event Details

Junior Book Club is a chance for middle grade students to chat about a book they've all read, try some relate activities and they'll do it all over a free lunch.  We have two books this summer, Lynne Kelly's Song for a Whale will be discussed in June and Carl Hiaasen's Chomp in July.  We will meet outside if the weather permits.

Free copies of the books are available at the library.  These will be handed out on a first come, first served basis, limit one copy per family (if you're family needs additional copies you can check them out but you'll only get one copy to keep).  You do not have to get a free copy of the book to participate.  If you've read it recently, borrow one with your library card, own your own copy, etc. that's fine too but please have read at least half of the book by the discussion.  Chomp will be handed out to those in attendance at the discussion for Song for a Whale and then it will be available to others.  The target audience for this program, and the book, is ages 9-13 but individual's reading levels make that number a bit more fluid.  Please chat with Cassie if you're unsure.
